Sea salt for marine aquariums, research and breeding
hw Marinemix professional is a sea salt mix for preparing seawater for aquariums. It builds on the long-term development of hw sea salts. We continually review and develop our production and mixing processes.
The mix is intended for marine community aquariums and specialised applications with LPS and SPS corals, in breeding facilities and research institutions. Adjust maintenance and water parameters to the needs of the organisms kept or the particular application.
Measure water parameters and supplement according to demand
The parameters of freshly prepared seawater depend on the source water, amount of salt and mixing conditions, among other factors. Check salinity or density at the intended temperature and the other parameters relevant to your livestock.
When testing shows a need, you can supplement calcium, magnesium and alkalinity with hw CalciumMarin, hw MagnesiumMarin or hw BufferMarin. Follow each product’s instructions and monitor the results rather than dosing indiscriminately.
The carbonate buffer system contributes to the buffering capacity of seawater. It does not replace regular pH and alkalinity testing. Precipitation depends on water chemistry and the conditions during mixing and dosing.
Raw materials and quality checks
We use tested salts of high purity, in pharmaceutical grade where available. The mix contains no chemical binding or complexing agents. We regularly check the quality and composition of our sea salt mixes.
